Western thimbles are usually worn on top of a finger. The Chinese ones differ because they are worn as rings. This silver one can be adjusted to the thickness of one’s finger and is decorated with a Ruyi (Everything you wish for) symbol. The thimble is marked with two Chinese characters as ‘silver’ and dates from the end of the Qing period (1644 – 1912). It was well used but is still in relatively good condition. Height 1.1 cm.
