Red and gold lacquered wooden spool in the shape of a gold ingot which is a symbol of ‘Wealth’. The decoration consists of two bats hovering over a peach which results in the saying ‘May you possess both Blessings and Longevity’ (fushou shuangquan). The other side shows plum blossoms on a branch which means ‘May the blossoms bring you the Five Blessings, ‘Old age’, ‘Wealth’, ‘Health’, ‘Love of Virtue’ and a ‘Peaceful Death’. The spool has been used but is still in good condition. It dates from the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Length 11.5 cm.
