Short belt hook which has puzzled us for some time. There is a baby qilin on it facing the dragon head hook and it is made of a light celadon colored jade. Originally it was impossible to define the age of this belt hook as we did not know of comparable examples until we noticed a very similar one in a book dealing with discoveries from Ming tombs around Shanghai. As a result, we can now assign it to the Ming period (1368 – 1644). Acquired in 1981 in Geneva, Switzerland. Length 5.0 cm. Width 2.3 cm. Height 2.0 cm. Weight 24.4 grams.
