[6015]

Silver amulet in the shape of a temple signboard. Auspicious texts in very ornate frames were mounted over the entrances of temples or palaces. This amulet is very finely engraved with flowers and has the following inscriptions which seem to refer to a temple: ‘Fa Min Pu Xi’ and ‘ Min Xia Pu Hang’. We do not know the exact meaning of these texts but we assume that this amulet may have belonged to a monk or other religious person. It dates from the Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912). Total length including chain 16.5 cm. Amulet height 5.0 cm. Width 2.9 cm. Depth 0.1 cm.
