Silver pendant, most probably an amulet, showing a pot-bellied sage on both sides. The sage is surrounded by three bats (fu) which symbolize Blessings. Also depicted is a shou character which refers to Longevity. Attached to a chain at the bottom is a small monkey holding a peach. Peaches refer to the wish for a long life. Monkeys are said to drive away evil spirits. The pendant dates from the Qing period (1644 – 1912). Total height including monkey 8.7 cm. Height amulet 4.9 cm. Width amulet 4.3 cm. Thickness 0.9 cm.
