Amulet of a boy with a lotus flower – (8801)

Silver bell-shaped amulet engraved with a boy carrying a lotus flower across his shoulder. Boys with lotus flowers (Lian) symbolize the expression ‘Lian Sheng Gui Zi’ which translates to ‘May you continuously get distinguished sons’. On the other side is a plant bearing three different fruits, a finger citron (Fo Shou), a pomegranate (Shi Liu) and a peach (Tao) leading to the expression ‘Fu Shou San Duo’ or ‘May you receive the three abundances’. The finger citron symbolizes abundant ‘Blessings’, the peach represents ‘Longevity’ and the pomegranate with its many seeds stands for a wish to get ‘Many sons’. The hook attached to the chain of this amulet comes in the shape of an upside-down bat which means ‘Blessings have arrived’. The small amulet dates from the end of the Qing period (1644 – 1912) or early Republic period (1912 -1947). Size of the amulet: Height 2.1 cm. Width 2.1 cm. Depth 0.1 cm.
