Pair of bangles with auspicious symbols – (3095)
[3095]

Pair of pierced silver bangles decorated with a number of objects which we have not been able to identify completely apart from a fan owned by the Immortal Han Zhongli, a pair of beaters belonging to the Immortal Cao Gaojiu and the fly whisk of the Immortal Lu Dongbin, so we assume that the attributes of the ‘Eight Immortals’ are depicted here. The details are however not very clear despite the fine fretting and engraving. The bangles were made during the Republic Period (1912 – 1947). They are marked with the name of a shop or silversmith ‘Zhang Ji’ (张记). Outside diameter 7.8 cm. Inside diameter 6.1 cm. Width 1.6 cm. Total weight 65 grams.
