Grooming set with profession amulet – (3320)

Silver grooming set with a flower-shaped medallion decorated on one side with the Eight ‘Trigrams’ (See Quick Find 4139) and a Yin Yang symbol and on the other side with a 'profession' amulet (See Quick Find 0289). The hook is decorated with flowers. There are three ‘tools’, a tongue scraper, an ear scoop and a toothpick. The tongue scraper which was used to clean one’s tongue is embossed with an unknown flower. The grooming set is not hallmarked and dates from the end of the Qing period (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Total length 49 cm. Amulet diameter 2.6 cm. Depth 0.8 cm.
