Hairpin with lotus pods – (9035)
[9035]

Silver hairpin which is left plain except for the scrolling tip which is decorated on its sides with lotus pods. At first we thought they were plum flowers but there are six instead of five petals as in the case of a plum blossom and they look more like lotus pods which symbolize Fertility. The mark on the hairpin was rubbed off and we can’t read the mark any longer. The hairpin dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Length 15.5 cm. Width 1.5 cm.
