Hairpin with Osmanthus blossoms – (8227)

Gilt silver hairpin decorated with flowers which are presumably Osmanthus blossoms. Osmanthus flowers symbolize the birth of Distinguished sons. It is marked Xiang Yuan Qing (祥元慶) who may have been the silversmith or retailer. The gilding of this item is somewhat worn due to its age. It dates from the end of the Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Length 9.8 cm. Width 1.1 cm.
