Silver hairpin decorated with an embossed Butterfly (Blessings & Happiness) flanked by two chrysanthemum blossoms (Good Health). The ‘stem’ of the hairpin is engraved with the attributes of the ‘Eight Immortals’ and the character ‘Fu’ (Blessings & Riches). The background is formed by Plum blossoms which represent the Five Blessings, Old Age, Health, Wealth, Love of Virtue and a Peaceful death. The hairpin is marked on the back with three crosses. It dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Length 16.8 cm. Width 3.4 cm.
