Bone hairpin from the Ming Dynasty – (8672)

This is a ‘poor men’s hairpin. Time has given this bone item an incredibly beautiful patina. It is not decorated but the shape is very pleasing. It dates from the Ming period (1368 – 1644). Because of the fragility of the material, bone hairpins are rare and only a few have survived. Length 8.5 cm. Diameter 0.6 cm.
