Silver two-pronged hairpin decorated with two ‘heads’ of Ruyi scepters symbolizing that ‘All your wishes may come true’ and a Bat, symbol of Blessings & Riches. In the center of each Ruyi is an Osmanthus flower representing a wish for Distinguished sons. The hairpin dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Length 13.8 cm. Width 3.2 cm.
