Immortal with scissors – (6491)
[6491]

Small silver hat ornament in the shape of an Immortal armed with a pair of scissors. The cloud base on which he is standing identifies him as an Immortal. Scissors were meant to cut off ties with evil spirits and protect the child wearing this ornament on its hat. The ornament is marked but much to our regret we can’t read the first character. The other two characters read Gong Li (公利). It dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Height 3.7 cm. Width 1.5 cm. Depth 1.2 cm.
