Small silver lock decorated on one side with a yet undefined flower. It has six petals. Is it perhaps a narcissus (Good Fortune & Prosperity), a flower which has six petals? On the other side of the lock is the text ‘Bai Jia Suo’ (百家锁) which means ‘Protected by a hundred families’. The lock dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Width 3.3 cm. Height 2.6 cm. Depth 1.1 cm. Weight 10.6 grams.
