Small flat silver lock engraved with the text ‘Long Life and Prosperity’ (Chang Ming Fu Gui) on one side and 'Yu Jian', which is a spell supposed to chase the evil away, on the other. Also engraved are Lotus flowers symbolizing Continuous Harmony. The lock which has a protruding edge does not have a maker’s mark and dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Width 4.3 cm. Height 3.3 cm. Depth 0.4 cm.
