Silver chain and lock decorated on one side with a Magpie (xique) on a Plum (mei) branch which is a pun ‘May your happiness reach up as far as your eyebrows (xishang meishao). The other side of the lock shows a yet unidentified flower. The lock which is not marked dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Total length 22 cm.
