Pair of silver objects in the shape of gold ingots decorated with Lucky symbols. One is decorated with a Ruyi scepter (Everything you wish for will come your way), a Swastika (Infinity) and two Melons (wishing its owner lots of Children). The other one shows a Box (Filled with Good Things), a Lotus pod (Fertility), a Cymbidium flower (Friendship & Grandchildren) and a Feather decorated with a Swastika. We assume that the feather represents attaining a High Position as important officials wore pheasant feathers attached to their hats. ‘Gold bars’ such as these were presented as Good Luck tokens wishing their new owner Good Fortune. They date from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Length 3.3 cm. Height 1.5 cm.
