Solid silver double hook decorated with a bat hovering over three Osmanthus flowers. A Bat (fu) shown Upside Down (dao) leads to the pun ‘Blessings have arrived’ (fudao). Osmanthus flowers symbolize the wish for ‘Distinguished sons’. We have not been able to identify the other two flowers. The object is stamped but the mark is illegible. It dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Width 2.2 cm. Height 3.4 cm. Depth 0.3 cm.
