Pair of earrings with two fish - (8289)
[8289]

Silver gilt pair of earrings decorated with a fish and what we believe is a rooster. A Rooster symbolizes High Rank because its head crest (jiguan) is a pun for ‘Official’ (guan). A fish represents Abundance. These particular fish consist of linked sections which move when walking. Flowers dangling down from fine chains complete the charming arrangement. The earrings date from the late Qing period (1644 – 1912). Total length 6.5 cm. Width 2 cm.
