Silver ring decorated with a Buddhist Lion or Fu Dog, Books, Cauldrons and a object which looks like a Lotus Pod. The Lion represents Harmony, Blessings, Protection as well as High Rank. The Cauldron (Ding) belongs to the ‘Hundred Treasures’ and is a pun for ‘Must’ (Ding). The Books which belong to the ‘Four Scholarly Pursuits’ express a wish to become a Scholar and a Lotus Pod (lianfang) symbolizes Fertility. The ring is marked Zu Yin (足银) for ‘Silver’ and also has a maker’s mark Tong Sheng (:通盛). It dates from the late Qing period (1644 – 1912). Diameter 2.6 cm. Width 1.8 cm.
