Lacquered wooden paper weight topped by a horned mythical animal with a spray of lingzhi fungus (symbolic for a long life) in its mouth. The weight is made from a heavy kind of wood and was used to press down the end of a scroll. It dates from the Qing period (1644 - 1912). Length 24 cm. Width 2.8 cm.
