Gilt wooden carving of a warrior holding up his sword. The sword is considered as a symbol of Longevity because it was used by Taoists to ward off evil. The carving of this small figure is exceptional. Look at his fearless expression and the fine details of his armor. There is little doubt that this piece of art once graced a very expensive piece of furniture. It dates from the Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912) and was acquired in Hong Kong in 1993. Height 11.5 cm. Width 5 cm.
