Lacquered altar and table - (8888)

Lacquered wooden altar decorated in very fine detail with people in various pursuits. Dragons writhe around the two columns in front and small Fu dogs keep watch at the entrance. There are two doors which open to reveal an inside without decoration. Horses and people are carved out on the lower part of the front. The table is an integral part of the altar and is made in exactly the same style as the base of the altar. There are traces of gold painting on the table and base. The altar dates from the Tongzhi period (1856 – 1875). Total height 174 cm. Size of the altar: Height 91 cm. Width 73 cm. Depth 45 cm. Size of the table: Height 83 cm. Width 84 cm. Depth 59 cm.
