A Geisha (芸者) is a traditional Japanese female entertainer who acts as a hostess and whose skills include performing various arts such as classical music, dance, games and conversation, mainly to entertain male customers. This geisha dances with a fan in her hand. Her kimono is decorated with chrysanthemum flowers. In China the chrysanthemum symbolizes Longevity because of its health-giving properties. The netsuke is signed with the name Jiang Xin (江信). Height 5.1 cm. Width 4.5 cm. Depth 2.3 cm.
