Hand-carved kernel of a ‘Ganlan’ fruit depicting the four moods of a Luohan (Buddhist Arhat). It was carved by ‘Song Mei Ying’ who was born in 1969 and started to carve at the age of 17. She was encouraged by her father, the award-winning carver ‘Song Shui Guan’. This carving is signed by the artist and dates from the latter part of the 20th century. Height 2.9 cm. Width 2.2 cm. Depth 1.9 cm.
