The details of this small hand-carved object are great. Eight immortals are pursuing different activities on board a small boat. The Eight Immortals are a group of legendary deities in Chinese mythology. Their power can bestow life or destroy evil and they were and still are very popular in China. The carving which also features a pine tree, symbol of Longevity, is of a superior quality but it is not signed. It most probably dates from the latter part of the 20th century. Length 3.8 cm.
