Kernel of a ‘Ganlan’ fruit which depicts a man with long earlobes, most probably a Luohan (Immortal). A second man with a long beard and a staff reminds us of Shaolao, the God of Longevity. We have not yet been able to find out what the connection is between these figures but individually they all have a hidden meaning. Also shown are a large Dog, symbol of future Prosperity, a Monkey which stands for Longevity, a Pine Tree and Rocks which are also both symbols of Longevity, Bamboo which stands for Peace and Clouds representing the ‘Granting of all Wishes’. The carving is modern and not signed. Length 3.8 cm. Diameter 1.7 cm.
