Bronze weight in the shape of a gold bar. It is one of a series of weights and inscribed with the characters ‘wu liang’. ‘Wu’ means five and ‘Liang’ is a traditional Chinese weight unit just like grams in the West. The ingot shape was supposed to bring wealth to the owner. The weight dates from around 1900 or possibly earlier. Length 4.7 cm. Width 3.0 cm. Height 2.3 cm. Weight 187.7 grams.
