Naughty netsuke which has caused quite some laughter. It is made of a hardwood and depicts a man, woman and boy in fine details. When turned around a very naughty scene appears which does not need further explanation. The boy who sits on the mother’s back seems undisturbed by what’s happening under the blanket and appears to enjoy the ride. The netsuke is signed by Hong Kong carver Songshan (松山) who appears to be just as skilled in wood as in ivory. Length 4.8 cm. Width 2.4 cm. Height 3.1 cm.
