Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of Wealth, Fortune and Prosperity. She is the wife of Vishnu, a major god in Hinduism. Lakshmi typically sits or stands on a lotus pedestal and holds a lotus blossom in her hand, a symbolism for Fortune, Self-knowledge and spiritual liberation. She has four hands which represent the four goals of human life considered to be important to the Hindy way of life, Dharma, Karma, Artha and Moksha. This ivory statue of her is delicately carved and dates from the first part of the 20th century. Height 23.5 cm including wooden stand. Width stand 7.7 cm. Depth stand 5.0 cm
