The wings of this small bronze statue reveal that it is a depiction of Garuda, one of the three principal animal deities in the Hindu Mythology. Garuda the mount of the Lord Vishnu and appears in both Hinduism and Buddhism. The statue was made in Southern India and dates to the 18th century. Height 9.2 cm. Width 4.3 cm. Depth 3.5 cm.
