This pure white thumb ring is decorated with a plum flower and a chrysanthemum. It was acquired in 1978 in Amsterdam and dates from the 18th century. The plum symbolizes courage and hope because it blossoms first and bravely stands against the dangers of winter. Apart from this, its five petals represent the Five Blessings, Health, Wealth, Old age, Love of virtue and a peaceful death. The chrysanthemum (ju 菊) sometimes is a symbol for 'forever' (yongjiu 永久), and thus symbolizes 'longevity', also because of the health-giving properties of a chrysanthemum. Diameter 2.9 cm.
