Well executed gilt carving of an official with his typical hat. He holds a ‘hu’, a curved symbol of authority in his hand. The original two foot long tablets were made of ivory and allowed entrance to the imperial palace. His coat is decorated with ‘Shou’ Longevity symbols. This small carving forms a pair with Nr 3084 (See Quick Find) but is not exactly the same. They once graced a piece of furniture or a bed. Height 17.8 cm. Width 5.9 cm. Depth 4.2 cm.
