An ear scoop and a toothpick are hidden in this silver implement and slide out when needed. It is decorated with bamboo (Humility and Fidelity) as well as with lotus- (Harmony), plum- and other unidentified flowers. The slides are formed like plum flowers with their five petals which represent the Five Blessings (see Quick Find 0171). The chain which resembles a watch chain is decorated with stylized flowers. The toothpick is hallmarked and dates from around 1900. Total length including chain 36.5 cm. Length of implement when closed 7 cm.
