Miniature green glazed pottery dish with a straw glaze-colored pig’s head. The head is hollow and lies on top of the pig’s trotters. Objects such as this were placed on a table together with other food items which makes us believe that they were offerings. This belief is strengthened by the fact that they are quite often attached to a table with glaze. This one dates from the Ming period (1368 – 1644). Diameter dish 6.6 cm. Height including head 5.4 cm. Length head 7.5 cm. This item was sold at auction in 2022.
