Basket with three fruits made of a very light grey jade and dating from the Qing period (1644 - 1912). In the basket are a Peach (tao 桃) symbolizing Marriage and Longevity, a Pomegranate (shiliu 石榴) which because of its many seeds represents Fertility, Offspring and Descendants and a Pumpkin (nangua 南 瓜) which sounds like 'Boy' (nan 男) and symbolizes the Wish for Sons. The basket is a symbol of Old Age and belongs to Lan Caihe (蓝采和), one of the 'Eight Immortals'. The ornament was acquired in Hong Kong in 1994. Height 3.8 cm. Width 2.8 cm. Depth 0.20 cm.
