Glazed pottery lady on horseback. The glaze is known as 'straw-glaze' because of its yellow color. A layer of cold paint was applied over the glaze and even though most of it has gone now, the remaining traces give a good indication how the statue must originally have looked. This lovely figure dates from the Sui to Tang periods (AD 581 - 907). Height 26 cm. THIS ITEM WAS SOLD AT AUCTION IN 2024.
