An official, recognizable by his head gear, holding a fan in one hand looks out from the veranda of a house with a double Chinese roof. On the right hand side a lady peeps through an open window. The details of this red and gold lacquered wooden carving are amusing. It once formed part of a piece of furniture or a bed and dates from the late Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912) or early Republic period (1644 – 1912). Height 11 cm. Width 6 cm. Depth 4 cm.
