Embossed and engraved silver hat emblem in openwork depicting auspicious symbols most of which relate to Longevity and the Granting of wishes to come true. Xi Wang Mu, the Queen Mother of the West, stands in the center holding a Ruyi scepter which symbolizes ‘Everything you wish for will come your way’. On the left is the monkey king Sun Wukong who stole the Peach of Immortality from the garden of the Queen. On the right is a deer with a Lingzhi fungus in its mouth. Both represent Longevity. The background is formed by the Three Friends of Winter, the Pine tree, the Plum tree and bamboo which are symbols of Longevity as well as Enduring Friendship, Courage and Perseverance. The bottom is decorated with the head of a Ruyi scepter (again promising that one’s wishes will come true) and Clouds which promise exactly the same, the ‘Granting of all wishes’. The ornament dates from the late Qing period (1644 – 1912) period. Height 4.5 cm. Width 4.1 cm. Depth 1.1 cm.
