Small silver lock decorated with Osmanthus flowers against a background of crackled ice. Crackled ice seems to have been inspired by the ice of a stream cracking with the first spring thaw. The theme of Crackled ice was very popular as decoration on blue and white porcelain during the Qing Dynasty. Osmanthus flowers express a wish for many Distinguished sons. One ring at the bottom is missing. The lock dates from the late Qing (1644 – 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Width 3.5 cm. Height 1.8 cm. Depth 0.9 cm. Weight 8.3 grams.
