Granary jar – (0380)
[0380]

Green-glazed red earthenware ‘Granary jar’. The glaze has acquired some silvery iridescence. This vessel seems to be a partial representation of actual granaries constructed during Han time. The hole in the roof and the molded bear feet suggest that this basic form was adapted to more practical use as a ritual vessel. Three sets of grooves are carved around the side. The Granary jar dates from the Eastern Han period (25 - 220AD). Height 29.5 cm. Diameter silo 14.5 cm. Diameter roof 20.5 cm. THIS ITEM WAS SOLD AT AUCTION IN 2022.
