Bronze statue of Nandi, the bull which serves as the mount of the god Shiva and as the gatekeeper of Shiva and Parvati (QF 9875). Temples venerating Shiva display stone images of a seated Nandi, generally facing the main shrine but there are also a number of temples dedicated solely to Nandi. The statue was made in Southern India and dates to the 18th century. Length 7.8 cm. Height 7.1 cm. Width 4.9 cm.
