Small translucent pale celadon colored piece of mountain jade. Contrary to river pebbles which show a well rounded form, this piece was blasted or hewn out of a rock in the Kunlun Mountains, south of Hetian (formerly known as Khotan). The flat surfaces of this piece reveal that it was shaped on a rotating polishing wheel. Hetian lies in the Uyghur Autonomous Region in China, famous for its fine quality nephrite. Length 3.8 cm. Width 3.4 cm. Depth 2.1 cm. Weight 31 grams.
