Flower 10 – (6300) Glass
[6300]

Large white flower disc. It might easily be confused with jade were it not for the fact that the disc shows sharp chips on its rim and air bubbles within which are typical of glass. The carving on the back is rather simple compared to the jade examples in the Lowlands collection. It dates from the late Ming period (1368 – 1644). A similar type of flower in jade (nr 401) is depicted in professor Cheng Te-k’un’s book ‘Jade Flowers and Floral Patterns in Chinese Decorative Art’。
