Collar clasp - Chrysanthemum flower and foliage – (4559)

Jade collar clasp which was used to close the high collar of a ladies dress. It is decorated with a large chrysanthemum flower and foliage. The chrysanthemum flower is a symbol of Longevity because of its health-giving properties. The clasp dates from the Ming period (1368 – 1644 AD) and was previously in the possession of Rudolph Voll (1911-2009) who acquired it in the 1970’s in Hong Kong.
