Pair of squirrels, beautifully carved in great detail from white jade. The interior of the carving has been hollowed out. To add to their attractiveness, the artist has left some of the skin (rind of the pebble) intact and polished it to a high sheen. Squirrels on grapes have the hidden meaning of a wish to be promoted to the top of the imperial court. The squirrel symbolizes prosperity and the many grapes express the wish of gaining much status.
