Well executed carving of a dog holding a staff. It dates from the Qianlong period (1735 1796) and originally formed part of a set of twelve animals belonging to the Chinese zodiac. A very light green celadon colored jade was used for its manufacture. The dog was bought at a Christie’s auction in London in 1972. Height 5.3 cm. Width 3.6 cm. Depth 2.4 cm. Weight 51.0 grams.
